I Scream You Scream We All Scream For Quiche

Updated: Jan 12

Our final show of the semster is 5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche and I don't know about you but I am instantly intrigued by that title. Our final show is about the 1956 Susan B Anothony Society For The Sisters Of Gertrude Stein...long name I know. Thier club is full of lesb-- I mean widows who all compete to make the best quiche. When things turn south and confessions are made, love is had, and secrets are unleashed.

When asked why she chose the show Kathleen Perry the director said "when I first reviewed the director applications last semester and saw this show's title on the show pool, I was instantly intrigued. When I read it, I fell in love. It was such a crazy show that I knew would be perfect for our company. It's fun, weird, fourth-wall breaking, bloody, sexy, and hilarious." Kathleen is a first time director but has assistant directed Play On previously. She said her favorite part of the process is "seeing our cast and crew come together throughout our weeks of rehearsal has been beautiful. With this show having a smaller cast and corresponding crew, our group has gotten very close with each other, both through our cast bonding events and just through our rehearsals. We'll always have our inside jokes regarding the show even once our performances are over, and I love that we now all have this connection with each other."

The assistant director Savanah Stachler talked about her expirence with this show and theater in general and gave some advice for those who are in theater or who want to join. They said "theater isn't for any specific type of person. There's a place for everyone here and I see so many people say they're not even going to try because they're not a theater major or they don't have acting experience. I came into this club without a lick of experience and I'm loving it." Which is exactly what we strive to do at LFC. LFC isn't just for theater majors most people in the club are people of all majors which makes the experience so special. Which is what the stage manager Bella Karmer talked about her favorite part of LFC is "how nice and accepting everyone is".

When talking about the show Eryn Barrett the assistant stage manager said her favorite part of the show is "seeing all of the actors develop their characters and the show really come together" I think we all have our own experience with seeing a show develop and this show is no exception.

For some of us this is our first experience like our props person Calvin Rex he said his favorite part of the production is "just getting to be a part of the theater experience. This is actually my first time helping with a theater production and being getting to play a part in helping make something so fun and entertaining is such a great experience, especially for such a crazy, funny, emotional, and accepting story like this." It is so cool to watch someone experience the world of theater for the first time.

There are even people like Grace Boerger who plays Lulie in the company who said her favorite part of LFC is "the community! In the four years i have been a member of LFC, i have always felt supported and loved by everyone around me." She's been in theatre for many years now and loves LFC.

zy and so fun to watch, it's dramatic and funny. Many of the actors find it hard not to laugh while performing which is why Kylie Stewart who plays Dale said her advice is "commit to the bit even if you’re embarrassed, half committing is 1000% more embarrassing." With a show like this committing to the bit is necessary.

We hope you come out to see the show and enjoy these lovely people on the stage. We are at a stressful time in our semester and are so lucky to end the season off with such a silly and amazing show. The shows are December 7th at 7pm and December 8th at 2pm. Tickets are $5 at the door (cash only)!
