It is Moms weekend here in Athens and LFC is gearing up to have all the moms come see our second show of the semester Clue: On Stage. This is a must see show it's got mystery, comedy, drama, and even romance.
This show has been an amazing expirence and such a fun process. Let me bring you into the world of Clue. Their rehearsals start with ice breakers, Anna Martin the stage manager said her favorite part of rehearsal is those ice breakers where "we list all the characters and crew members on the board. Then we decide a category like 'ice cream flavor' or 'favorite musicals' and categorize everyone". It's a special part of the rehearsal process and gets the cast and crew bonded.
Anna said that her favorite part of LFC is that "it is welcome to people of all majors. I get to meet new people that I would have never thought I would meet just because we all love theatre. I have made some amazing friends within this company and wouldn't change it for the world." Which is very evident with this show they have people of all majors.
Through their rehersals before tech they even got their crew involved. Madeline Hart the lights person said her favoirte part of rehearsal has been "sitting in the back corner of the room during rehearsal and being able to play with the light switch while a run through. The gasps as the first blackout happened was so fun. Can’t wait for the show to feel that on a larger scale". Getting crew involved in the process is crucial and just being silly and using a light switch is a great way to get the feel of what they want the show to look like.
A fun part of this during rehersals is the series of events that get everyone laughing and making jokes. Many times when the lights turn off or someone makes a joke it creates a chain reaction and they all break out a bit from the show, but it goes to show how well nit this cast and crew are. This is Judy Chiffon and OU local drag queen who plays Mrs.White favorite part of rehearsals. Which she breaks this cast more than anyone with her favorite bit we like to call "FLAMES".
The same goes for Casey Chanthanhothirats who plays Wadsworth favorite part he said "I love being a goofball during the show and it actually be hilarious. Jokes aside, I just love acting with my fellow cast members and just have a good time".
There are many parts of this show that really are going to get the audience hooked. Once part in particlaur that many of the cast and crew agreed on when getting interviewd is the finale. Matt Feitt who plays Mr.Green said his favorite part is "the “killer” ending that you must come to the show to see. I won’t spoil it for you". Which must mean you have to see the show.
Laura Bender the assistant stage manger even says "there are a lot of really funny moments in this show that I love! One of them has to be the final scene. it goes on forever but truly is hilarious. I also always love to watch the process of rehearsals from read through to blocking to full runs". Laura favorite line is "'that’ll be 5 dollars mister' get it cause tickets are 5 dollars".
Something new LFC has done this semster is work with AVW the media production org on campus. It has completley chnaged the game, this was first brought to exec by LFC and AVW member Cassidy Disantis who actually took all the media day pictures (which are killer) for Clue. This has become many member like Alex Shina who plays the cop and is a first time LFC member favorite part of the company.
Clue is going to be a show to remember, so get your mom and get a clue at Arts West this Saturday April 5th at 7pm and Sunday April 6th at 2pm. Tickets are $5 at the door!
