2 Angry Directors

Our next meet the directors blog is about the angry directors of the 12 Angry Jurors. 12 Angry Jurors is a classic story many of watched in our government classes teaching us a lot about how a jury works while also playing into characters with interesting personalties and motives. Let's meet the directors of this classic play.

Nick Foster is the director of this show and said he chose this show because "it's a show perfect for the space and it offers a good canvas for growing as an actor. It's a very simple drama, while also being pretty well written considering its age". Nick is an actor is the BFA acting program here at Ohio Univeristy so this is a fun project for him to take on and is both in and out of his realm in differnt ways. So when asked why he wanted to direct he said that "as an actor, I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to push myself to be more concise and lead a project that I myself didn't create. This is my first time directing a full-length play, a terrifying, yet exciting prospect!!!"

One exciting thing to hear about in his interview was his favorite show expirence he said its in the final part of this show "when Juror 3 (Parker Brunner) leaves the room before his final line, is critical to the arc of the show. When I saw that moment for the first time after we blocked it, I realized that the skeleton had been formed. The frame of the ship is built and the day it sets sail is closer than ever. It was euphoric". The way he desicribed this part of the show expirence was eye opening and an amazing metaphor. The artistry of himself really shows through in this quote.

Sarah Comer is our assitant diretcor for this show and the reason she chose this show is an important one. She said "the show is very poignant for the political climate we live in today. disagreements happen and people have prejudices, but we all have a choice how to handle those disagreements and to stand for our own beliefs and not compromise". Theater is an important factor to sending a message to those in the audience and we think this is an important message to spread. She beautifully worded just how important this drama is.

One hard aspect of directing a show she talked about in her interview was casting she said it was because "there were so many amazing people who auditioned". A fun fact about this season is we had almost 200 people audtion for this show pool, this made the directing teams jobs even more difficult. Expect to see some amazing people on stage in April.

She even said "i'm excited for everyone to see our show, we're putting together a great thing and it's going to be so awesome"!

You should all come see the show at Arts West April 12th at 7pm and 13th at 2pm, $5 Cash at the door.
