Meetings, Auditions, Interviews, Oh My!

First GBM!

What a week we’ve had here at Ohio University. The lost flamingo theater company has been gearing up for our wild semester and we’ve had a wild first week with many successes. We’ve had our first meeting with almost 100 people in attendance excited to hear about all of our shows. We are very excited to announce that our shows will be as per tradition The Rocky Horror Picture Show in partnership with the Union! As well as our stellar plays Puffs, Boy My Greatness, and The Outsiders all being performed at Arts West! 

We then had auditions, callbacks and cast lists. There was a lot of competition for the shows with such great talent. We thank everyone who came out and auditioned. Callbacks were stellar and everyone put their all into these shows. So, when it came to the director showdown Saturday night they had some tough decisions to make. Our directing teams are very excited to get their shows on the road but there was one more part of the show they needed to get, tech! 

On Tuesday we had our tech interviews, our interview process is ever evolving so this year it consisted of an online form and a sit down interview with our tech team exec members and the directors. In LFC we strive to give people the opportunity to learn theater especially since many of our general body are not theater majors. After more tough decisions from the directors and exec our tech teams were made. 

Many of our shows have already begun their rehearsal processes. Starting with various character workshops, read throughs, and for our very first show of the semester blocking ! We are excited that this year we are able to also have a tech team meetup before the shows begin to teach our tech about their various roles. We know they are all very excited to learn all about their position as well as to get some donuts!
