We are officially down to meeting our last team of directors and are so happy to show off these talented people. Our final show of the season is Heathers: The Musical, an 80s cult classic movie turned musical featuring Heather, Heather, and Heather. But enough about the Heathers, let's meet these directors.

Alex Penn is the director of this cult classic musical and is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this story to life. Alex, like most of us, loves the movie and he said that's why he chose this show. Penn stated, "I have a deep love of the 80s cult classic movie Heathers and I believe I can adapt it to be a great staged production for the company.” Alex had the pleasure of assistant directing Grease for LFC last spring which is why he wanted to take a go at directing the musical this semester. He said, "I loved being able to work with actors and tech crew to create a collaborative environment and an immersive production.”
He even noted his favorite part of the production so far which is fight choreo. He said, "my favorite experience from this show process so far has been blocking our fight choreo. It has been a collaborative process to figure out what stunts both feel and look the best and the fun that comes along with working together to pretend to beat each other up is irreplaceable.” Who doesn't love a good fight choreo moment? We sure know Heathers loves it. You'll have to check out the show to see all the stage combat going down.

Next up is the assistant director Emma Snyder-Lovera who you may
know from her most recent show, and funnily enough Alex's most recent show as well, Almost, Maine. It makes sense why these two make such a powerful duo directing this show. That's why when asked why she chose to direct this show Emma said, "I chose Heathers because I have long adored this musical, and I knew it would be a blast to work on. I was also really excited for the opportunity to work with Alex as director. Musicals are so fun to be a part of and it’s been great to work behind the scenes.”
A fun part about LFC is the opportunity for anyone to try out anything. Emma said that's why she chose to be a director this semester. She said, "I don’t have much crew experience in theater, so I didn’t know what to expect going into directing. I wanted to be a director to help create a good show environment and see the characters come to life through the rehearsal process. It has also been so fun being a part of the directing team!"
Musicals are no joke to direct. Emma said the hardest part about it has been the fact that, "Heathers has a lot of content. The hardest part of the process was organizing the rehearsal schedule in a way that guaranteed we would get everything done. But we made it happen and I’m super confident about the rehearsal process so far!" They have been doing a spectacular job at getting this show put together and are so excited for you to come and see it at Arts West April 25th & 26th at 7pm and April 27th at 2pm!
