Join us for our final play The Outsiders this weekend November 22nd at 7pm and 23rd at 2pm $5 CASH ONLY! We interviewed the cast and crew of this show to take an insider look on how these greasers and socs have been getting along.
Samantha Humphrey who portrays Cherry Valance talks about her experience as a freshman finding her place in the lost flamingo community. She said her favorite part has been “the supportive and kind people! I'm a freshman this year, but I already feel like I found a group that I wholeheartedly intend to stick with. I walked into my audition TERRIFIED, but I left feeling so confident and sure that I found the right people, because they showed so much support during the whole process. I don't know many people yet, and I have a lot more time to get to know people, but I'm so excited to do that because it's already been a great experience so far!” Being a freshman in college is terrifying, you’re at a new place trying to make friends away from everyone you’ve ever known. Finding a place like LFC is so special and doesn’t always happen, we are so happy Humphrey found us.
Not only did the community drive this show for Humphrey she also talked about her favorite part of doing this show. She said her favorite part of the rehearsal process has been “blocking and seeing the show come to life. This show has a lot of very emotional elements to it that hit you hard just reading it on the page, but seeing our talented cast bring it to life makes those scenes so much better. Seeing Darry's anger, Sodapop's hope, Dallas's carelessness, Johnny's pain, and Ponyboy's confusion throughout the story is so impactful, especially when you learn why they all feel and act that way. The cast acts these scenes out perfectly and I'm so happy to work with them!” This cast and crew has worked so hard on bringing these characters to life, we hope you can follow along with their journey and feel emotions.
Jessie Ibarra who does the sound for this show and talks about how the cast has brought these characters to life. She says “my favorite rehearsal moment is watching Sophie bring the character of Two-bit to life. He's such a funny character and she really does him justice in his hilarity within the show. I also enjoy watching them learn to do the fight scene.” The fight scene is going to be the most anticipated part of the show, former LFC member Nick Foster helped choreograph this fight sequence. Colton Morefield who plays Bob also talked about this fight sequence saying “I really like the scene before the big fight because the greasers do such a good job impersonating the Socs, and then the fight is really fun because we have choreo and it’s exciting to watch everyone battle.”
Vinh Nguyen, the assistant stage manager, talked about the show and how it has come together. He said “blocking and Tech is my favorite part of the show, putting things together and seeing the show come to life is such a magical experience!” There is something so special about watching the show melt together as the cast, crew, and directors come together to put the show all together.
Max Woeber who plays Ponyboy touched on the shenanigans the cast has gotten up to during rehearsals he said his favorite rehearsal moment was “when we had to wheel Johnny (Griffin) on a table through Tupper”. It shows a great show to know they can have fun and be silly even when they have a show to put together in such a short time.
Morgan Slad, the stage manager, touched a lot on the founding family of this show. She said “my favorite part of the show is the dynamic between all the greasers! Their (found) family is amazing, and I love seeing how each of the cast members embody their characters! “ The found family is so important to portray on and off the stage and what really drives this show forward.
We hope you all come to see this amazing show.As always stay gold.
